Meet our Alumni Instructors

Beth Friedlaender
completed the STOTT PILATES Comprehensive training program at Equilibrium just one year after experiencing miraculous benefits as a client. Since her certification in 1999, Beth has continued to expand her awareness of movement and healing with dedication and enthusiasm. Seeking innovation and reinvention, she infuses Pilates with elements of yoga, psychology and circuit training for a dynamic approach that is nurturing and extremely effective. This includes breath work and setting intentions to release tension and cultivate graceful, efficient neuromuscular activity. Beth challenges and supports her clients beyond just physical exercise. Each workout is unique, and tailored to the individual and their needs that day. Her extraordinary gift for communicating complex concepts in a simple, straightforward manner truly sets her apart. Beth shares her personal experiences and loving energy in every session.

Some of Beth's continuing education includes: an M.A. in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, the MCENTIRE WORKOUT METHOD; GYROTONIC Expansion System Level 1; and L.I.S.T. BALANCE SYSTEM level 1.

In private practice for over eight years now, she serves a loyal clientele at two studio locations in Los Angeles.

Carolyn Geerling-Goryl
first experienced Pilates, while living in California, through a fusion class called PiYo (Pilates/yoga) and fell in love with the Pilates portion. A graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Exercise Science, she has worked in the fitness industry in many capacities including personal trainer and group fitness instructor.

Carolyn is the Michigan Professional Affiliate Coordinator for AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) and believes that Pilates is so appropriate and valuable to every BODY from the athlete to the injured, from the fitness enthusiast to the overweight client, from 18 to 80! She is very excited to have worked with the Equilibrium team in order to bring her personal training background and group fitness experience to individual clients as well as into her Cardiolates, Group Reformer and Matwork classes! Carolyn is a fully certified instructor having completed Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair & Barrels and Injuries & Special Populations.

Carolyn left Equilibrium to live in Arizona, and be a mom to her baby boy. She considers frozen yogurt her favorite snack, and would consider being a photographer if she wasn't a Pilates instructor.
