Fall Challenger halfway update!

Congratulations to our fall challenger, Sue Dumond, for making it halfway through her 3 month challenge!

Sue has made an incredible commitment to her fitness and health as our fall challenger. She has attended classes consistently each week, challenging herself to try new classes, doing two a day workouts and even working out while away from the studio. Read below for her halfway point update and check out the pictures of her progress:

“Half way done with my Fitness Fall Challenge and I feel that I made a major breakthrough!  Not only am I stepping up my fitness level by adding on the NY Times circuit class to my routine, but I was able to finally use 2 pound weights in the Xpress Xtend Barre Class on Monday!  If it wasn’t for Sarah asking about my progress, I never would have thought about challenging myself with the heavier weights.  I think sometimes we just don’t realize we are capable of doing more and mentally and physically keep ourselves stuck in the same routine.  To top that off, I decided to try and time a plank over the weekend and I am now over a minute (1.30)!  That’s without practicing at home and only doing whatever plank moves are part of the classes.  Last week, we did so many pushups and planks in the classes and it obviously is helping me reach my ultimate goal of a 2 minute plank.  Oh and by the way, Total Body Conditioning (9 am class) was a killer today using the Body Bar Weights!  Unfortunately I didn’t have time today to stay for the NY Times circuit class but I’m hoping I can fit it in near the end of the week.  Once you start this class, you can’t give it up.  Nothing makes you sweat more and feel every muscle in your body!”

Hear about Nicki’s Xtend challenge….

Even though I am an instructor and worked out throughout my pregnancy, getting back into shape is a challenge (hence being an Xtend Challenger). With sleepless nights,  an unfamiliar postpartum “shape” and nursing, I felt non energetic and uncomfortable in my skin. However, I was REALLY looking forward to getting back to the workout and studio that I love. After the first Xtend class with Liz I knew I had a ways to go, I had lost a lot of arm muscle, had no abs and boy were my legs were shaking!! It’s been a little over a month and I have been taking at least three Xtend classes a week from Amy, Liz and Kristin.

Each morning I may be tired from lack of sleep but feel instantly energized with the music and the face paced warm-up! I can almost get through the triceps dips without a break and only shake on occasion! I push myself harder each class and really try to focus on form. While the scale hasn’t changed all that much and I know I have a ways to go, my body feels more tone and tight and I’ve noticed my pants fitting better (especially in the waist). Most importantly, I am a happy Mom. It feels great to do something for myself and the music, other instructors and clients are so wonderful and supportive. They always ask how the boys are doing and are thoughtful and encouraging. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity and look forward to making even more progress in the coming months. Can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Equilibrium welcomes our newest Xtend Challenger, Heather Yacoub! We are so excited for Heather to begin her challenge.

“The reason why I want to do the Xtend challenge is because i wanna get back into shape and feel a lot better with myself.

Having thyroid cancer and dealing with weight issues has been really hard on me so this challenge is perfect for me so I can get back into shape, I can have more energy and I can feel better about myself.”

“After roughly two months of the Xtend Challenge I continue to be amazed at the transformations I am seeing. The progression I have made is extremely exciting and each class is slightly different enough to keep me on my toes and work on new areas to improve. The instructors are constantly attentive and encouraging, pushing me in a direction that I could not do on my own. I honestly never thought I could see my body change in the way that it has in a relatively short amount of time and I’m excited to see additional results. Furthermore, as a graduate student I have noticed the mental results – the structure of the class surely gives me a level of sanity outside of school which has definitely carried over to my concentration within my design regimen.”
