Leanne Bourassa

Leanne Bourassa

Leanne is a Level 5 Advanced MELT instructor and certified Stott Pilates instructor. Shortly after becoming certified in Pilates, she realized that she needed to focus as much on rehab as fitness. This is when she discovered MELT. Through Pilates, MELT Length and Neurostrength techniques, she has seen great progress in her clients. They have improved fitness levels, reduced chronic pain, found better alignment, and even avoided surgery. While MELT length works on hydrating the connective tissue system and re-balancing the nervous system to improve alignment and reduce pain, MELT Strength and Pilates work on maintaining that alignment, eliminating compensatory patterns and improving overall fitness.

Learning MELT has also given Leanne new insights into the workings of the body and she firmly believes that her MELT training has made her a better instructor overall. It is the perfect complement to Pilates. You cannot maximize the benefits of Pilates, or any fitness regimen without adding in MELT. It is the missing link to overall wellness. Lisa Patrick

Lisa Patrick

A few years ago Lisa was looking for a meaningful job and another type of exercise to add to her routine. Who knew those 2 things would be one in the same! She had taken a series of reformer classes years earlier through a Groupon and remembered really liking it. So she went to a few studios nearby and felt comfortable at Equilibrium right away! Instructors kept telling her she had good form, which she credits to her ballet background, so she inquired about the program and before long enrolled for STOTT PILATES ® instructor training.

Lisa is a STOTT PILATES® certified full Level 1 Instructor. When Lisa is not in studio you can find her on the tennis court where she applies some of the STOTT PILATES® basic principles to help improve her tennis game and makes sure her own workouts are geared toward keeping her injury free to play more tennis.

"I really listen to what my clients want to gain from pilates and try to help them achieve their goals. I love to see their happy expressions when they do something new they were not able to do before!" Lisa is thrilled to be a part of the Equilibrium family.

Katherine Poppitt

Katherine Poppitt

Katherine, hails all the way from Melbourne, Australia. In Michigan since late 2022, Katherine and her family have been traveling around the world as expats for the last few years, with her previous home being Dubai, UAE.

Katherine has been passionate about Pilates for over a decade now, discovering the physical and mindfulness benefits of the practice whilst working in the corporate world as a defence attorney.

Her love for and dedication to Pilates is enduring; despite experiencing many big life changes over the past decade - including international relocations and having a family - Pilates has always been a constant in Katherine's life.

After taking several years out of the workforce to raise her children, Isabelle & Thomas, and ready for a new challenge, it made perfect sense for Katherine to promote Pilates from her passion to her career!

Undertaking her training in Dubai, UAE, Katherine is a certified Stott Pilates Level 1 Mat and Reformer instructor, and qualified in Level 2 (advanced Mat & Reformer). She has also completed STOTT pre and post-natal pilates training.

Although she is enthusiastic about all-things Pilates, Katherine's favourite class to teach is Reformer. She aims to make her workouts challenging but fun, with a focus on form to ensure each client gets the most out of their workout and leaves the studio feeling accomplished and energised.

When not at the studio, Katherine and her family enjoy travelling (obviously!), anything outdoors, visiting museums, the zoo, and most of all: family dance-offs in the living room!

Katherine is looking forward to seeing you in one of her Reformer classes soon!

Danielle M Roland

Danielle M Roland

DPT, OMPT

Danielle graduated from Oakland University in 2005 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and in 2010 with her post-graduate certification in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT). Her physical therapy career has always been in the outpatient orthopedic setting where she has worked with patients of all ages, conditions, and skill levels. However, her passion is in treating individuals with total joint replacements to permit them to return to their prior level of function and working with injured and non-injured athletes to permit them to safely return to and compete in their sport. She began implementing Pilates into her patients’ treatment programs in 2016, but it wasn’t until she herself discovered Pilates to be such a crucial and integral part of her recovery following Breast Cancer treatment and surgery. During her recovery, she decided to enroll in the Intensive instructor trainer program. After nearly 2.5 years, in 2021, she earned her Level 1 STOTT Pilates certification in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels.

What she loves about Pilates is the ability to apply the Pilates principles to anyone regardless of their age or skill level, easily and readily integrate the exercises into their treatment programs, and watch her patients/clients achieve their goals and more, allowing them to stay as active as possible. But Pilates isn’t just about physical conditioning; it is also about a mind-body connection and awareness. When she personally leaves a pilates session she not only feels physically rejuvenated, but also mentally and emotionally recharged. She is indebted to all those who assisted and continue to assist her in her recovery and she hopes to pay it forward to those she works with by improving their physical, mental, and emotional well-being with each session.
