Education Payment and Cancellation Policies

Course and Payment Cancellation Policy

  • A non refundable deposit is required to enroll in the training program.
  • Course fees are DUE in FULL two weeks before the first day of your course or you will loose your space to someone on the waitlist.
  • If you cancel more than a month prior to the course start date, the deposit can be transferred to the next upcoming course but must be used within a year.
  • If you cancel with less than a month notice , the deposit is non-refundable & non-transferable.
  • If you cancel 14 days or less before the course start date your course fees are due in full and non-refundable but you will be permitted to enroll in the NEXT course if there is space, with an additional $300 deposit.
  • Once a course has commenced, no refunds or course transfers are permitted.
  • No cash or credit card refunds; all refunds if due are by check.
  • No refunds for those who pay in full for all courses and receive a discount

Workshop Cancellation Policy

Payment in full is required to register for our workshops. If you cancel three-weeks or more prior to workshop start date, your payment may be transferred to a future education course or workshop of your choice at Equilibrium within a year of purchase; less the non-refundable non-transferable fee of $50.00. If you cancel with less than three-weeks notice your fee is non-refundable & non-transferable because your attendance would be a deciding factor as to whether the workshop would run. No cash or credit card refunds.

Prospective Pregnant Registrants

We do not accept registration into our courses or workshops from students who are knowingly pregnant. Should a student become knowingly pregnant after registration, they will be required to withdraw their participation in the course or workshop, regardless of how many hours have been completed. If a student is required to withdraw mid-course, agreed-upon arrangements will be made for them to continue the course at a later date. Normally it is considered safe and desirable to work out during pregnancy as this method of exercise can be tailored to an individual’s particular prenatal stage, however, we do not tailor our courses to pregnant women. Under certain circumstances permission may be granted for select workshops. Requests must be submitted in writing to the Senior Program Director, Education at least 30 days prior to the workshop date. Merrithew Health & Fitness™ reserves the right to determine the reasonableness of the accommodation requested.

Auditing

We allow auditing of the following courses if a student has previously taken them: IMP, IR, ICAD, ICHR, IBRL, AM, AR, ACAD, ACHR, ABRL, CMR, and CCCB. We also allow auditing of the ISP course if taken post-June 2007 to present and the RMR1, RMR2, RCCB1 and RCCB2 courses if taken post-June 2012.

Please contact your closest Training Center if you are interested in auditing.

We do not however, allow auditing of any Functional Anatomy course and any of the workshops we offer (CEC / introductory) as the main goal of the workshops is continuing education and not certification.

Absenteeism & Make-up Hours

If the student misses more than five hours they must make up the same amount of hours missed (1:1 ratio). If a student misses less than five hours of a course, they need to make up half the time in private review at their cost (2:1 ratio of hours missed to hours made up).

Make-up hours should be done in a timely manner especially if the missed hours occur in the middle of a course. (This allows students to cover material prerequisite to material taught upon returning to the course.)

Any make-up hours for Rehab, Anatomy courses, ISP courses and Advanced courses are done on a 1:1 ratio due to the density of the course material and the expectation that it will take the same amount of time to teach one student as to teach a group.

Students have six months to make up any hours missed. If they exceed this timeline, the course is forfeited and the entire course must be retaken in order to examine and certify. Licensed Training Centers must inform us via the submitted class list that a student has not completed a course. A note will be made on the student’s file. A letter of completion will be sent to the student when the Center has confirmed that the student has completed the remaining hours.

Date of Certification

Upon successful completion of the exam, students are considered certified instructors from their exam date. If the student takes the exam on two separate days, the latter date is the date that they may refer to themselves as a Certified Instructor. CECs are then earned the next full calendar year after one becomes certified, regardless of what month they examine in.

Video or Audio Recording

Audio or video recordings of courses being taught is strictly prohibited. If there are exceptional circumstances that make this necessary, the student must apply for and receive express written permission from Merrithew Corporation and sign a contract restricting its use. This policy is to help us avoid any infringement on our intellectual property.

Course Materials

Students must have their own complete course package exclusively for their use during the course. We believe this guarantees that all students will have access to the study materials as needed during the course.

Observation Hours

Students should only log observation hours once the course has started, so they can receive guidance on what to observe. Observation hours can be logged during or after the course. Students can earn observation hours by watching a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor teach clients, but also by observing their STOTT PILATES course package videos. We do suggest that 80% of observation hours be completed by watching a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor teach.

Please contact your Licensed Training Center, a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor, or The Merrithew Health & Fitness Corporate Training Centers to arrange for observation during your course.

Special exam accommodations may be arranged for students with disabilities or circumstances that prevent them from taking the STOTT PILATES written examination as outlined in our regular procedures. In order to be considered, a formal request supporting the student’s situation must be provided to the Senior Program Director, Education at least 30 days prior to the scheduled examination date. Merrithew Health & Fitness reserves the right to determine the reasonableness of the accommodation requested.

Cheating Policy

Merrithew Health & Fitness™ takes dishonest and unethical behavior very seriously. The following consequences will apply if a student is found to have cheated on any exam:

  • A mark of zero will be recorded for that exam.
  • The student will be unable to re-take that exam for a minimum of six months. The re-take and any future exams must be completed at a Merrithew Health & Fitness™ Training Center and may not be proctored. The student will be required to pay for a STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer (IT) to be present during the written exam. Merrithew Health & Fitness™ will not be held responsible for any adverse affect this policy may have.
