As a ballet instructor I think that every dance instructor should go through the STOTT PILATES® training program!

I was a dance instructor before I became a Pilates instructor and I'm so thankful that I decided to do the STOTT PILATES® training! People who grow up dancing usually have a strong body awareness and a good sense of anatomy. When I entered the training program in 2007, I realized my knowledge of anatomy wasn't as strong as I thought. I learned so much about how to train a dancer more efficiently and safely.

In addition to gaining knowledge of anatomy, I of course learned how to cross train my dancers using Pilates! Pilates is amazing to help improve functional turnout, develop core strength, and prevent and help rehabilitate after an injury. Dancers often need to balance their flexibility with strength in order to prevent injuries and Pilates safely does the job while feeling very familiar to a dancer.

STOTT PILATES® is considered the Harvard of Pilates training programs and most of the staff at Equilibrium was a dancer or is currently also a dance instructor! I found that the cues I learned throughout the STOTT PILATES® program helped make my cues stronger and more effective while teaching dance classes.
