Week 2 – Feeling the Difference?

Last week I mentioned how humbled I was feeling by this experiment. It’s abundantly clear to me that, no matter your level as a devotee or as a teacher, we are all students of Pilates, and it’s our real-time growth that keeps us moving forward.

Week 1 – Back to Basics

My lats, they hurt. I only discovered this during a private with Anna where she had me take a stretch on the Cadillac. It was a sore burning that kicked on when I raised my arms and went into a slight back extension—and it let me know I’d been putting in work.

A Tough Start to 2019 and the Importance of Self Care

Feb 15 I was skiing in Aspen and on my final day skiing I fell, my first fall in 5 days. As I was going down I felt a pop in my knee and I knew I wouldn’t be able to get up.

May 30 I was waiting to turn left, blinker on and I was rear ended by a distracted driver- he didn’t even brake- resulting in whiplash a concussion and my car being totaled.

Passion for Pilates

When I started pilates as a client in 2012, I just had my first job after receiving my bachelor’s degree. I saw my chiropractor regularly since I was 16 and I knew that it would be a bad idea to sit 40 hours per week at an office without exercising.

Motherhood and Pilates Instructor = My Dream Career

I started doing Pilates in 2003 after I had my second child. A few years later I found myself in the middle of a divorce. I no longer could be a stay at home mom and housewife. I wanted a career that could give me more purpose and afford me the opportunity to work and be a stay at home mom at the same time.

Pilates or Bust (literally)! My Partnership with Equilibrium Pilates

I’m not totally lost when it comes to working out. Yes, some days my idea of a crunch is the one I get from a Lay’s potato chip. But I’m no stranger to fitness- I’ve been doing physical therapy pretty much since birth. Here’s the story: I was born with severely clubbed feet, which led to a whole plethora of orthopedic issues, and here I am, 10 surgeries later with a better walk!! but the osteoporosis and severe arthritis in my feet and ankles that come with the territory of being laid up, and in and out of wheelchairs during my youth.

Leading Lady Spotlight: Nancy Hodari

There’s a saying I’ve been hearing over and over for the past few years, “the future is female.” While I believe this is true- there are special group of ladies that have been working towards this goal and pushing the envelope to have it all (from family and work) before us millennials showed up. Nancy Hodari, is one of these ladies – leading by example and setting the bar high for us female entrepreneurs trying to make a difference and build a business in todays ever changing world.

“Pilates an Effective Exercise, especially if you’re pregnant”

We love seeing our pregnant clients staying healthy and safe during their pregnancy so when we came across this article recently, we were so thrilled with what this instructor is saying!

"One question I get asked all the time by women who are pregnant: “Is Pilates safe to do?”

And my response is: YES! During pregnancy it is important to exercise regularly and most importantly, safely.
