I love learning from Amy P....Ever since I was in the training program, I enjoyed learning from Amy P. I admire how detailed she is in teaching her clients and classes. She ensures that every client gets a safe and effective workout while challenging them with Pilates.

My Favorite Exercise Is…with Jenn Montie

Jenn shares two of her favorite exercises:

My favorite exercise to teach on the mat is slow double leg stretch. It is great for the core and has a lot of choreography! It is difficult to cue, but with practice it is a fun challenge!

My favorite exercise to do personally is feet in the straps -frog.

Challenger 2 Month Update!

Here's the latest update from our Winter Challenger, Debbie. Debbie has been taking classes for two months and we are so proud of her determination, commitment and increased strength!

"After two months of being the studio challenger I am still loving it and wish I had more free time to take additional classes!  I continue to really enjoy Liz’s cardio pilates class and Lauren’s reformer classes.

Have you ever wondered why your instructor is always commenting to you to keep your ribcage down on the mat or closed?
There are a couple of reasons for this. If you think about basic anatomy, (check out the skeleton behind the front desk) you’ll notice the rib bones actually have an attachment to the spine.

We all know that breathing helps us focus and move tension from muscles we don't need to be using, especially our upper backs, shoulders and necks.
Breathing, especially your exhale also helps you make the connection to your deepest core.

We often tell our clients to imprint when they are attempting an open chain exercise. Why? The rationale is that bringing both the legs into the air (or into an open chain position), puts a lever or force against the pelvis.

Donation class for ALS of Michigan with Mari & Sam at Lululemon!

Thank you to all who attended our donation class on Sunday at Lululemon Old Woodward in Birmingham! A very special thanks to Mari Winsor of Winsor Pilates & Sam Arin from Center for Yoga, for leading us through an inspiring, challenging, rejuvenating 90-minute pilates & yoga class! We were able to raise $425 for ALS of Michigan and hope to continue to raise more this week!  Look for more opportunities to join us in community classes soon.
